Community Promise: Bullet Summary

  • All Core and Advanced (functional) Parts must become individually free for Personal Use within 6 months of release.
  • Once free, these parts stay free while still active in the system.
  • Packs, generators, cosmetic parts and branded parts do not have to be free.
  • Removing outdated parts does not break the Promise.
  • If MULTIBOARD LTD fails to release required parts for free on time and does not fix it within 30 days of a notice, the entire MultiBoard project automatically becomes public domain under CC0, permanently.
  • MULTIBOARD LTD cannot sell or give exclusive control of its design IP unless everything has already been released under CC0.
  • Any attempt to transfer IP early is invalid and results in CC0 release.
  • This applies even if the company changes ownership.
  • Design principles:
    • Core/Advanced: function first, durable, modular
    • Cosmetic: style first, no new functionality
    • Branded: may include proprietary brand features
  • This Promise is legally binding, cannot be weakened, and can be enforced under UK law.

Relationship to the MultiBoard Licence:

Frequently Asked Questions

How To Report A Broken Promise

If you think we have slipped up, we want to hear about it.

Step 1: Let us know:

Post the details in the official Community Promise channel (Link Here). Just share which part it is, when it was released, and any helpful links or screenshots.

Step 2: We'll take it from there

We'll acknowledge it, investigate quickly, and fix it if needed. If we've slipped, we make it right. That's the whole point of the promise.

Thank you for helping us keep MultiBoard transparent, accountable, and true to our word.
